Wage Growth Lowest in 33 Years

"Wages and salaries in the United States rose by 0.2 percent in the second quarter, the Labor Department said Friday.
That’s the smallest increase since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began tracking workers’ pay in 1982 for its employment cost index.

"The Swiss bank UBS is one of the biggest, most powerful financial institutions in the world. As

secretary of state, Hillary Clinton intervened to help it out with the IRS. And after that, the Swiss bank paid Bill Clinton $1.5 million for speaking gigs. The Wall Street Journal reported all that and more Thursday in an article that highlights huge conflicts of interest that the Clintons have created in the recent past.
“A few weeks after Hillary Clinton was sworn in as secretary of state in early 2009, she was summoned to Geneva by her Swiss counterpart to discuss an urgent matter. The Internal Revenue Service was suing UBS AG to get the identities of Americans with secret accounts,” the newspaper reports. “If the case proceeded, Switzerland’s largest bank would face an impossible choice: Violate Swiss secrecy laws by handing over the names, or refuse and face criminal charges in U.S. federal court. Within months, Mrs. Clinton announced a tentative legal settlement—an unusual intervention by the top U.S. diplomat. UBS ultimately turned over information on 4,450 accounts, a fraction of the 52,000 sought by the IRS.”

Grimaldi and Rebecca Ballhaus lay out how UBS helped the Clintons. “Total donations by UBS to the Clinton Foundation grew from less than $60,000 through 2008 to a cumulative total of about $600,000 by the end of 2014, according to the foundation and the bank,” they report. “The bank also joined the Clinton Foundation to launch entrepreneurship and inner-city loan programs, through which it lent $32 million. And it paid former president Bill Clinton $1.5 million to participate in a series of question-and-answer sessions with UBS Wealth Management Chief Executive Bob McCann, making UBS his biggest single corporate source of speech income disclosed since he left the White House.”TheAtlantic

Cruz hits Romney back

"Republican presidential candidate and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz fought back Thursday after Mitt Romney criticized him for saying the Obama administration would become the “leading financier of radical Islamic terrorism” if Congress approves the Iran nuclear deal.
Romney had taken to Twitter to say that Cruz’s comment was “over the line.”

In a blunt response on KFYO radio in Lubbock, Texas, Cruz hit back at the 2012 Republican nominee, saying: “One of the reasons Republicans keep getting clobbered is that we have leaders like Mitt Romney or like Jeb Bush who are afraid to say that.”
Cruz said the nuclear deal would allow for more than $100 billion to go to Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, and that the same money would also end up in the hands of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and other radical Islamic terrorist groups.

“When you send billions of dollars to jihadists trying to kill Americans, you bear responsibility for the murder they carry out with the money you have given them” Cruz told host Chad Hasty, adding that the Iranian supreme leader routinely leads chants in which he shouts, “Death to America.”
Cruz previously characterized the deal as “catastrophic” and said that it poses the “gravest national security threat” more than anything else for three reasons.
“One, if it goes through, hundreds of billions of dollars will flow to Iran that they will use to fund radical Islamic terrorism to murder Americans.
 Two, because it leaves four American hostages languishing in Iran. The last president to leave hostages in Iran was Jimmy Carter [and] that appeasement profoundly weakened America,”

Catholic Leader gets Nasty with Trump

"This week, Cardinal Timothy Dolan took to the New York Daily News to write an incoherent and defamatory political hit piece against Donald Trump.

As a Catholic priest, I can only say it is embarrassing to have a Cardinal so blatantly and unfairly trying to associate Mr. Trump with the worst kinds of racism imaginable. I offer an apology on behalf of so many Catholics who are outraged by the dirty politics of Cardinal Dolan.

Ever so “cleverly,” Dolan makes clear that in his opinion Trump is the revival of nativism, “an organized, white, Protestant antagonism towards the Catholic immigrant,” which for Dolan is just a

more recent incarnation of the KKK and other racist organizations–an absurd claim–and perhaps one of the most ignorant statements and mean-spirited remarks I have ever seen a bishop state publicly. The more than clear implication by Dolan that Trump is a white supremacist reaches levels of defamation that even the most liberal media has not dare trod.

Dolan should perhaps realize that the continued race bating in this country by President Obama and others is immoral and destructive to the social fabric of our nation. For Dolan to join the base ranks of the peddlers of hate, dividing Catholics and Protestants, blacks and white, the poor and the rich as well as Americans from immigrants is intellectually dishonest. Dolan’s words are unbecoming of a bishop and are not factual.

Dolan who is quick to claim that he is not telling people who they should not vote for, provides the usual vacuous caveat only after he has done all the damage. This is the same bishop who is silent about the recently revealed atrocities of Planned Parenthood, who did little to defend marriage and has done absolutely nothing about pro abortion politicians in his diocese receiving communion and remaining falsely in good standing in the Catholic Church.

Dolan laments that he is not still teaching in college his absurd nativist ideology. I can only say I am relieved for those who would be subjected to his indoctrination, lamentably he has free rein to attack Republicans in the public square.

Dolan is not known for his intellectual depth but his aides should consider reading over his pubic statements to spare American Catholics some embarrassment. Dolan seems jovially unaware of the social unrest that lax immigration laws are causing in France, England and other nations in Europe. It is not Catholic or Christian to advocate for irresponsible immigration. Immigration to be of any help to immigrants and the host country, requires order,
knowledge and balance.

Dolan who is also not known for his humility and mercy will likely never apologize, but he should.

If Dolan were to say something sensible about politics to Catholics he should perhaps state the obvious: no Catholic in good conscience can vote for the Democratic party, a party that supports funding Planned Parenthood, opposes marriage, and is seen to be devastating the social fabric of this nation while bringing economic ruin to a once prosperous country.

Truth be told, Dolan who has been busy closing numerous Catholic parishes in New York and selling valuable Catholic real estate, could frankly use Trump’s business acumen advice." Breitbart

Huckabee backed by Iowa Jews

"Mike Huckabee sparked condemnation from national Jewish groups and the president with his

controversial contention that by agreeing to a nuclear deal with Iran, Barack Obama will take “the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven”.
Yet one small but influential group – consisting of Jewish Republicans who live in the crucial early voting state of Iowa – is perfectly fine with it.
Will Rogers, chairman of the Polk County Republican Party, told the Guardian that while Huckabee may have “stepped the rhetoric up which may have crossed the line with certain voters”, he himself had noticed no local outrage.
While Rogers made clear he did not speak for the Jewish community in Iowa, and said “there’s a certain sensitivity for remarks” like those made by Huckabee, he said that in his Republican circles there was much more focus on the controversial deal than on any words uttered by the former Arkansas governor.
As Rogers noted, a majority of Republicans are “very unhappy” about this foreign policy initiative."

Trump's Mammadov Connection

Trump's partner in the venture is Anar Mammadov, a 34-year-old billionaire playboy whose father serves as Azerbaijan's transportation minister. According to media reports and opposition critics in the tiny Caucasian country—which is considered one of the world's most corrupt regimes—Mammadov's wealth has resulted in part from his father's political connections.
"Trump International Hotel & Tower Baku represents the unwavering standard of excellence of The Trump Organization and our involvement in only the best global development projects,"

Trump said when the venture was announced in 2014. "When we open in 2015, visitors and residents will experience a luxurious property unlike anything else in Baku—it will be among the finest in the world."
But Trump has earned lucrative management fees for lending his name and expertise to the project. According to the recent financial disclosure he filed in conjunction with his presidential bid, he received at least $2.5 million last year for his work on the Baku hotel, which will be operated as part of Trump's chain of luxury hotels. A spokeswoman for Trump did not respond to questions about his business relationship with Mammadov.
According to Foreign Policy, the company that Trump is working with also secured the contract to construct the Baku bus station, which Mammadov's uncle owns. A leaked diplomatic cable on Azerbaijan's "most powerful families," drafted in 2010 by the charge d'affairs at the US embassy in Baku, noted: "With so much of the nation's oil wealth being poured into road construction, the Mammadovs also control a significant source of rent-seeking."
Mammadov has demonstrated a keen interest in American politics. He heads the Azerbaijan American Alliance, a group that at one point was registered with the US Department of Justice as a foreign lobbyist.
In 2011, Mammadov himself registered as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agent Registration Act in connection with his work with the alliance. Though he is still featured prominently on the organization's website, Mammadov is no longer listed as a foreign lobbyist. But he still seems to be very keen on courting powerful American politicians. Mammadov's personal website features a gushing recap of the group's Washington gala last November, which he hosted. The event was attended by Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), and Mark Warner (D-Va.)." MotherJones

The headline’s ironic because in it’s own polling, the Washington Post has GOP presidential candidate Gov. Mike Huckabee in fourth place out of the 16 official GOP candidates.
The ranking comes from a poll released by the Washington Post and ABC News last week.
The article details Huckabee’s visit to a black church in South Carolina, with some exclusive details.

The headline on the online story – “Mike Huckabee, looking for a niche, woos blacks in GOP primaries” – is more fitting as the reporter details how Huckabee as Arkansas Governor, received 48 percent of the black vote."

IRAN deal unpopular - even among Democrats

"Public support for the Iran nuclear deal is declining, according to a new poll released Wednesday by critics of the agreement.

The survey released on Wednesday by Secure America Now found that 45 percent of registered voters want lawmakers to oppose the agreement, an increase of 8 percent from one month ago.
After hearing additional arguments for and against the deal, the opposition to the deal grew to 65 percent in the poll, indicating that advocates on both sides could have significant influence on the national debate over the coming weeks.The most heated opposition comes from Republicans, though many Democrats are also growing critical of the agreement, which could point to a difficult few weeks for congressional Democrats. Overall, Democrats in Congress have expressed mixed emotions about the deal, which they will be forced to take a vote on in September.
“There’s some real message for Democratic senators here,” Pat Caddell, a Democratic pollster who helped run the survey, told The Hill. “Which is why so many of them I think feel caught, and they rightly should, in between the arguments.”
Just slightly 52 percent of self-identified Democrats told pollsters than they supported various arguments presented by the Obama administration, including that opponents “offer no other course than war.” Just 51 percent of Democrats said that the deal “makes America safer and more secure.”

"Democrats harshly criticized the Obama administration’s nuclear deal with Iran during a testy hearing Tuesday, underscoring the difficulty the White House faces in winning over its own party.

Secretary of State John Kerry had several sharp exchanges with Jewish Democrats on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, including ranking member Eliot Engel (N.Y.), who said he was “very

disappointed” with the agreement.

Supporters and opponents of the Iran nuclear deal have focused on Jewish Democrats as both influencers and bellwethers in the debate.

“I have a fundamental concern that 15 years from now, Iran will essentially be off the hook,” Engel said. “My big question is this: What happens then? Are we back to square one? Is this deal just pushing the pause button for 15 years?” 

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) argued the deal was not legally binding and that a future administration could turn away from it.

“This is not a binding deal. … It’s not even an executive legislative agreement. It might be at most morally binding on this administration,” Sherman said.

He also appeared annoyed with Kerry when the secretary said he would need to consult with the president about whether the deal would be implemented if Congress passes a resolution of disapproval — and overrides an expected veto by President Obama.

Trump Opposes Cuts To Social Security, Medicare And Medicaid

Trump has strongly criticized the rest of the Republican field for advocating deep cuts to programs relied upon by the elderly, the disabled, and the poor. In April at the New Hampshire Republican Leadership Summit Trump said that he was “disappointed with a lot of the Republican politicians.”
“Every Republican wants to do a big number on Social Security, they want to do it on Medicare, they want to do it on Medicaid. And we can’t do that. And it’s not fair to the people that have been paying in for years and now all of the sudden they want to be cut,” Trump said.
Jeb Bush, a favorite of the Republican establishment, quietly proposed this week that Medicare — a program relied upon by millions of people — be “phased out.” Virtually the entire Republican field supports reducing entitlement programs through cuts, privatization, or both.

Trump Supports Universal Health Care

Trump would not be leading the Republican field if he didn’t support the repeal of Obamacare. But he has also talked for years about the need for universal health care.
Confronted last week about his position by conservative radio host John Fredericks, Trump stuck to his guns. “We have to help them out. And I would make deals with hospitals, and I’d make deals with people where they can get some care, John. I mean, you can’t have a guy that has no money, that’s sick, and he can’t go see a doctor, he can’t go see a hospital. You know, I just don’t think you can have that,” Trump said.

after it emerged he called a woman “disgusting” for pausing a court case to breastfeed her newborn baby.

Trump is reported to have made the jibe in 2011 while testifying during a deposition over a failed real estate project in Florida, which saw home buyers forfeit their down payments and allegedly lose tens of thousands of dollars.
Some two hours into the session, lawyer Elizabeth Beck requested a medical break. When the tycoon and his lawyers objected, Ms Beck drew out a breast pump to stress that she needed to feed her three-month-old daughter, the New York Times reported.
“You’re disgusting,” Mr Trump is alleged to have said, and left the room, ending an episode which neither party has denied, according to the US newspaper.

Before a Sunday rally in Kenner, Louisiana, a suburb about 12 miles outside of New Orleans, the candidate held a small house party at the home of Dr. Gilda Reed. Reed, a psychology professor who’d once run for Congress on a platform similar to Sanders’s, had been selected to host the

event that Wednesday, after offering her place up to a Facebook friend who’d been tasked with finding a venue. “Who’s as excited as I am that he’s coming?" Reed said in a status update. "Private message me.”
The result was about 40 mostly middle-aged, mostly white Louisiana liberals—a mix of Reed’s Facebook friends and fellow members of the Jefferson parish Democratic Executive Committee—packed into the living and dining rooms of her shotgun-style one story house. In the center of the room, Sanders stood under a ceiling fan, listening as the crowd talked over each other. Having Sanders there was clearly cathartic for the liberal audience—but it underlined the challenges they face as Southerners, given Republican hegemony in the region.
The house party was the smallest of four events on the senator’s schedule in a two day swing through the state, which attracted Sanders’s usual sheaf of favorable media coverage.  He made “a direct appeal to black voters” at the Southern Christian Leadership Conference gala in Baton Rouge on Saturday and “whipped up a thunderous crowd” of 4,500 in Kenner’s Pontchartrain Center (When I mentioned to Reed that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal only managed to draw 1,000 people to the same venue for his presidential announcement, she quipped “and he probably had to pay them to get them there.”). "Top Trump lawyer Michael Cohen apologized Tuesday for threatening a reporter who asked about a decades-old allegation that the real estate magnate raped his ex-wife Ivana Trump.

Trump’s former spouse issued a statement of her own — via his campaign — in support of the surging Republican presidential candidate.

Tripp"ing" up Hillary

"Linda Tripp, the tape-recording former pal of Monica Lewinsky who exposed the intern’s affair

with President Bill Clinton, broke nearly two decades of silence Tuesday and unloaded on Hillary Clinton.
The 65-year-old Tripp tore into both Clintons, but saved her harshest rhetoric for the former first lady, calling her a power-hungry monster who would do anything to get elected.
“I think the most compelling thing about Hillary is that she will stop at nothing to achieve her end and that she views the public as plebeians easily seduced into believing her point of view,” Tripp told the Daily Mail.
Tripp said Hillary was a key leader in White House efforts to squash “bimbo eruptions,” when the West Wing unleashed quick-fire responses to discredit women claiming to have had affairs with Bubba.
“In this endeavor she was ruthless. She destroyed women so that their stories never saw the light of day,” Tripp said.
The ultimate goal, from Day 1 of Bubba’s administration, was to ensure Hillary would rule 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. someday just like Bill, according to Tripp.
The former Defense Department employee nearly brought down Clinton’s White House by secretly recording her phone calls with her one-time friend Lewinsky.

Kasich - Romney Meeting

"The latest Republican presidential candidate, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, is also the latest to be invited

for a private meeting with Mitt Romney.

Kasich plans to have lunch Thursday with the 2012 GOP nominee at Romney’s lakeside vacation home in New Hampshire.

Kasich spokesman Chris Schrimpf said Romney extended the invitation after learning that Kasich would be campaigning near his home. The Ohio governor is in the midst of his announcement tour, which began Wednesday in New Hampshire.

Palin Nails Planned Parenthood

     " Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin went after Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, in a brutal Facebook post that will certainly draw the fury of pro-abortion advocates.

“Which symbol killed 90,000 black babies last year?” the post asks. Below is an image of the Confederate flag next to the Planned Parenthood logo.

She followed up that post with two more, including one reminding viewers of President Barack Obama’s support of Planned Parenthood and another showing a woman holding a sign that reads, “I regret my abortion.” TheBlaze

Democrat Divide on Minimum Wage

"Democrats are divided on how much to lift the nation’s minimum wage, an issue that has long united the party.
Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is pushing to raise the federal wage from its current $7.25 an hour to $15. But budget experts warn such a hike could eliminate millions of U.S. jobs.
Many liberals on and off Capitol Hill have embraced the $15 figure, seeing it as an important remedy for addressing the nation’s growing income disparity. Democratic leaders, however, have been

reluctant to back it, rallying instead around smaller increases.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) want to push the minimum wage to $12 per hour. President Obama has edged his support to higher levels in recent years, from $9 to $10.10 and now $12. Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, backed $15 per hour for New York fast-food workers on Friday but hasn’t specified a wage floor for the nation.
The various positions underscore the tightrope party leaders are walking on the minimum wage increase, a concept highly popular among voters.
Unlike prior battles with Democrats on the issue, Republicans have significant ammunition in this fight. They point out that raising the minimum wage would mean lost jobs.

"Emergency" NATO Meeting

"BRUSSELS (AP) — NATO declared its "strong solidarity" with Turkey on Tuesday as

ambassadors gathered for a rare emergency meeting about the threat faced by a member.
Turkey requested the extraordinary meeting to gauge the threat the Islamic State extremist group poses to Turkey, and the actions Turkish authorities are taking in response, including attacks on Kurdish rebels.
"We strongly condemn the terrorist attacks against Turkey, and express our condolences to the Turkish government and the families" of victims killed in recent terrorist actions, NATO ambassadors said in a statement after the meeting.
"Terrorism poses a direct threat to the security of NATO countries and to international stability and prosperity," the NATO statement said. "It is a global threat that knows no border, nationality or religion_a challenge that the international community must fight and tackle together."
Article 4 of NATO's founding treaty empowers member states to seek emergency consultations when they consider their "territorial integrity, political independence or security" to be in jeopardy. This was only the fifth such meeting in NATO's 66-year history.
In Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkish and U.S. officials were discussing the creation of a safe zone near Turkey's border with Syria, which would be cleared of IS group presence and turned into a secure area for Syrian refugees to return.

Obama takes Gay Gospel to Kenya

"President Barack Obama is in Ethiopia Monday, the first sitting American president to visit East Africa's second most populous nation. He's holding talks with Ethiopian and African Union leaders on counterterrorism, human rights, and regional security.

Obama wrapped up a two-day visit to Kenya Sunday, where he urged leaders in his father's homeland to root out corruption, treat women and minorities as equals, and protect the rights of homosexuals.

"I've been consistent all across Africa on this," the president said. "I believe in the principle of

treating people equally under the law, and that they are deserving of equal protection under the law and that the state should not discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation."

But in a tense exchange, Kenya's president rejected Obama's message on gay rights, saying it was one value Christian Kenya does not share with the United States.

"The fact of the matter is that Kenya, the United States, we share so many values, but there are some things that we must admit we don't share -- our culture, our society don't accept," President Uhuru Kenyatta said.

"This is why I repeatedly say that for Kenyans today, the issue of gay rights is really a non-issue," he continued. "We want to focus on other areas that are day-to-day living for our people."

In Kenya, homosexual relations carry a punishment of imprisonment. In this overwhelmingly Christian nation, many residents shrugged off the U.S. president's lecture on gay rights.

"Of course, the way President Obama talked about gays and what have you, lesbianism or transgender, whatever, according to him, you know, we took him as an American. He was answering like an American," Nairobi resident Ibrahim Lincoln said. "But according to our African cultures, the Christian beliefs -- we say no." AP

Draft Biden movement grows restless

"Vice President Joe Biden has yet to say whether he'll throw his hat into the ring for the White House, and Democrats across the country are wondering for how much longer they'll have to wait to find out.
Biden's potential candidacy was up for debate last week among a group of Democrats in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Boston Globe reports. Some Democrats in the key early-nominating state aren't waiting any longer for him.
"It was time to make a move," longtime Biden supporter Dave O'Brien told the Globe. O'Brien recently signed up to assist Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign. "I would feel horrible if Joe were to decide to run and I was not at his side, but my word is good and my commitment has been made," O'Brien said.
Meanwhile, the group Draft Biden -- a super PAC formed by the Democrats' grassroots supporters -- is ratcheting up its campaign to recruit the VP into the race. On Friday, the group released a digital ad in which a diverse group of people declare they are "ridin' with Biden." CBS

"Anthem Inc. has just announced a $54 billion acquisition of Cigna that will allow the Blue Cross operator to pass Kaiser Permanente as the largest health insurer in the State of California.
Sold to the public as a way to increase competition and save the average American family $2,500 a year, Obamacare actually created monopoly

pricing for the insurance industry that allowed premiums to rise by $2,500 and tripled the value of their stocks.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA), referred to as Obamacare, has spurred monopolistic concentration in the American health care industry. The five major insurers will soon be down to three, and doctors and hospital providers are also merging into large regional health systems directly associated with hospitals that now dominate local markets.
The driving force behind this concentration is Obamacare’s regulatory structure, which provides lucrative subsidies from other insured patients to pay for the Medicaid expansion. This system gives incumbent general hospitals with high Medicaid patient flow revenue advantages over less expensive specialty facilities. Any business sheltered from competition tends to accumulate higher profits and overhead costs.
Kaiser Permanente is currently the largest health care insurer in California with 7.8 million members, or 35 percent of the market. Its health maintenance organization (HMO) design has been a popular option for many large employers and effective signing up new members from California’s Obamacare exchange." Breitbart
