Arizona fight over Trump's delegates: Cruz Wins...

"Texas Sen. Ted Cruz pulled out a strategic victory at Saturday's Arizona Republican Party convention, nailing down a large majority of delegates to the national convention amid cheating accusations from backers of businessman Donald Trump.
The Cruz slate won virtually all of the 28 at-large national delegates and roughly split the 27 delegates selected by congressional district.
Former Gov. Jan Brewer, losing her first election in 35 years, angrily yelled "I got cheated — I got cheated," as the results became known.
But Cruz's Arizona campaign organizer says simple math led to the at-large victory. Cruz offered a nearly identical slate of candidates as John Kasich backers, and the combined votes led to a win.
The victory was mainly strategic for Cruz since all 58 Arizona delegates are required to vote for Trump on the first national ballot because he won the state's primary. There are three automatic delegates, including state party Chairman Robert Graham.
With Trump at nearly 1,000 national delegates out of 1,237 he needs to win the presidential nomination outright after recent sweeps of five eastern states, even Cruz's Arizona backers believe Saturday's effort is likely to be for naught." yahoo

That was not the easiest entrance I’ve ever made,” the frontrunner said. “It felt like I was crossing the border actually. I was crossing the border, but I got here.”
The move was prompted after protesters attempted to storm the front of the hotel, shortly before noon." CBS

Fiorina slams Trump - Tyson connection

"Carly Fiorina said Friday that Donald Trump’s touting of an endorsement from Mike Tyson “says
a lot” about the Republican front-runner’s character.

Standing alongside Mr. Cruz on Friday, Ms. Fiorina said she didn’t consider “a convicted rapist a tough guy,” WashingtonTimes

Sanders Pounds Indiana Colleges

"D'Alessendro pointed to the significant crowds Sanders attracted in the state a day after the Tuesday East Coast primaries.
"We haven't seen a hit in the grassroots enthusiasm, but that is unique to this campaign," he said. "Every other campaign in the history of the world would have seen one."
There has been no reportable statewide polling in Indiana yet, so it is difficult to grasp the spread in the Democratic race there.

Beck on Cruz's pick of Fiorina

"Yesterday was a big day for the Cruz campaign with the announcement of Carly Fiorina as Cruz’s vice presidential running mate should he win the nomination. RUSH on Cruz - Boehner flap

"Cruz just got the best endorsement he could ever get.  He could not have gotten a better endorsement than he got out of John Boehner speaking to the Stanford Daily, the campus newspaper at Stanford.  Can you imagine, here's John Boehner out there calling Ted Cruz "Lucifer," the biggest SOB he ever had to work with?
Here's John Boehner, the former Speaker of the House, who had to work with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and Barack Obama, and he says that Ted Cruz was the worst he ever had to work with?  Isn't that a little bizarre?" RushLimbaugh

Kasich defends pact with Cruz in Oregon

"At his first public event since Monday, and the kickoff of an Oregon campaign that he cut a deal with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) to get going, Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) was in a mellow mood. Three time zones away, in Indiana, Cruz was attacking the very idea that he and Kasich had forged an "alliance" in three upcoming primary states. Kasich saw no reason to deny it.
"Look, it's a matter of resources, where we can most effectively apply them," Kasich told reporters outside a town hall meeting here. "The deal is, is that I'm not spending my time there. He's not spending his time in Oregon and New Mexico. And then we'll all probably be competing in California. I mean, I can't tell you what the future brings, but that's all it is. There's been a lot more made of it than what there is." WP

Sanders supporter threatens congressman over Hillary support

"Police arrested a 27-year-old Seattle man last week for threatening a local Democratic congressman both in person and over the phone, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.
Jasper K. Bell was charged with intimidating a public servant and telephone harassment after going to Rep. Jim McDermott’s office on April 22 and banging on the office windows. He was also reportedly seen spitting and yelling.
King County Prosecutor Susan Storey said that incident came after Bell called McDermott’s office, “demanded the congressman’s home address and threatened to cut his tongue out.”
In another call, she said, the suspect said that the lawmaker “would not be safe, even after he retires.” The threats were severe enough that McDermott canceled at least one public appearance, increased security, and brought a shovel into his office “to use in self-defense if necessary.”
Bell allegedly told officials that he was angry because a supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) was arrested at McDermott’s office earlier in the day. McDermott has endorsed Sanders’ opponent for the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton." RawStory

Cruz picks Fiorina as VP

"Cruz, looking for a shake-up in the 2016 race as Donald Trump moves steadily closer to the
Republican nomination, on Wednesday announced former GOP primary rival Carly Fiorina as his choice for running mate should he win the party nod.
The move was immediately dismissed as an act of “desperation” by the Trump team, but Cruz – while acknowledging it is “unusual” to announce a running mate so early – defended the decision. He claimed “nobody is getting to 1,237 delegates,” the number needed to clinch the nomination, and voters should “know what [they] will get.”  FOX

Trump Foreign Policy Speech

"Trump makes the case that American taxpayers are spending titanic amounts defending other
nations and regions which could and should be contributing more toward their own self-defense. The principle of defending friends is not in question, but our spending strategies have to be reevaluated, so that long term viability is insured. Within NATO, only four of the 28 member countries are meeting their defense commitments while the US is providing 73 percent of the overall NATO budget." FOX

Trump spending spree hits Indiana

"Despite landslide victories on Tuesday, Donald Trump still needs to win Indiana — and he’s starting to act like it.
The frugal Manhattan mogul has begun opening his wallet for the air war, spending more than $900,000 on TV and radio ads. He’s working the inside game, wooing Gov. Mike Pence one-on-one in what multiple Indiana insiders said appears to have been a successful effort to keep the governor on the endorsement sidelines. And Trump’s new campaign strategist Paul Manafort has been telling Republican officials, multiple people told POLITICO, that Trump is in the midst of doubling the ground team there, with plans to balloon his in-state operation to 40 people."
