"Bernie Sanders channeled his inner comedian on Saturday night during a guest appearance on
“Saturday Night Live” alongside host Larry David.
Playing a fed-up passenger on a crashed sea vessel, Sanders’ character, Bernie Sanderswitzki, chided David’s character for insisting that because of his wealth, he should be allowed to board a lifeboat reserved for women and children.
“I am so sick of the one percent getting this preferential treatment!” Sanders said with his trademark yell, as he appeared onscreen wagging his finger to the crowd.
“Enough is enough. We need to unite and work together If we’re all going to get through this,” he said.
“Sounds like socialism to me,” David’s character responded.
“Democratic socialism,” quipped Sanders, adding that the difference between the two is “yuge.”
Sanders, of course, has described himself as a democratic socialist, and made the income gap a centerpiece of his campaign, often admonishing the “top 1 percent” for what he denounces as an unfair tax system that favors the rich at the expense of the less fortunate." Reuters
