"Republican presidential hopeful Donald J. Trump, who continues to be under fire for questioning
Sen. John McCain’s war hero bona fides, announced a coalition of New Hampshire veterans
Thursday. It has 51 veterans and four co-chairmen, including Jerry DeLemus, a liberty activist and former marine who said last month he was planning a Prophet Muhammad drawing context.DeLemus, in a phone interview Thursday, said that at this point he will not likely organize the contest. He initially proposed it as a celebration of constitutional rights in the wake of the shooting at a Muhammad cartoon art exhibit in Texas in early May.“Donald’s a fighter, a real fighter,” said DeLemus, of Rochester. The other three co-chairs of the new group are Rep. Werner Horn of Franklin, Rep. Daniel Tamburello of Londonderry, and Rep. Joe Pitre of Farmington.
Trump, in announcing the coalition of Granite State veterans, said: “Veterans are incredibly important and I’m proud to have the support of this coalition, especially in New Hampshire, where if I am elected I will build a full-service, first-class VA hospital to ensure all New Hampshire Veterans receive the care they deserve. I love all veterans and will help them finally lead the kind of lives that they should be leading.” ManchesterUnionLeader
