"The following Independence Day message of Castle was published on the Constitution Party’s website on July 4th, 2016:
240 years ago, 56 men laid their lives, fortunes and sacred honor on the line for Liberty, after having exhausted all their political options. In 2016, Americans wonder if we live in a time, “When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them.”
Ask yourself this question: has the current political establishment lived up to the hope and promise of the Declaration of Independence? How do you feel about the level of taxation in our nation? How do you feel about the militarization of local law enforcement? How do you feel about the Patriot Act, which both major political parties supported and passed? All of these things, and much more, violate not only the spirit of the Declaration but also the letter of the law embodied in the Constitution." IPR
