“Black Americans have a chance right now collectively to say to the Democrats,” said Newsome in a statement on Monday. “‘Hey, if you don’t give us criminal justice reform, we’ll give the country to Donald Trump.’ That’ll send the Democrats into a frenzy. Black lives will matter then, I guarantee you.”
The campaign is to inform black Americans that their vote is too important to be ignored and to be owned by one party.
“I Ain’t Voting” also released a list of demands to the Democratic National Committee including better representation in state, local and national elections; criminal justice reform; and less demands from corporations on black candidates."
