"The gunman, Nicholas Glenn, 25, ambushed Sgt, Sylvia Young, 46, firing 18 shots into her vehicle. She was shot multiple times–five times in her upper body and twice in her arm– but was wearing a bulletproof vest at the time. She and UPenn Police Officer Eddie Miller, 56, were rushed to Penn Presbyterian Hospital and are both in stable condition.
While fleeing the scene, Glenn shot a security guard, a bar patron and a man and a woman inside a
vehicle. He used the bar patron as a human shield. The bystanders in the car were both shot in the chest and rushed to the hospital, but the woman died of her injuries. The man is still in critical condition.
Glenn was eventually shot and killed by police. They later found a note–which they believe was written by Glenn– near the scene. It contained a bunch of anti-police ramblings and named a specific officer as a target.
