"Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) suggested Friday that he could reframe his second White House
bid much like how Bill Clinton moved beyond a terrible convention speech to later assume the presidency.
"Anyone who's done this more than once is recasting himself,” Perry, who launched his 2016 campaign the day before, said in an interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
"I'm pretty sure that Bill Clinton had to recast himself after his rather disastrous speech at the Democratic convention. So everyone does that," Perry added.
Perry was referring to Clinton's speech at his party's Atlanta convention in 1988, where he was widely jeered for speaking for more than a half hour — twice the allotted time — and boring the audience." TheHill
