Kasich Rejects Calls to Drop Out
"Even as he skipped the Nevada Caucus in order to campaign in states that vote on March 1, Ohio
Gov. John Kasich rejected suggestions today that he get out of the GOP race in order to consolidate anti-Donald Trump support behind Marco Rubio.
“I think it’s funny,” Kasich laughed when asked by reporters about calls by the Rubio team for Kasich to drop out. “I think it’s ridiculous.” yahoo

Sanders calls Pope a Socialist
"Bernie Sanders said Pope Francis is a socialist like himself in an interview with a Catholic television network set to air Tuesday. “I think what the pope has done, in a very bold way... is raise the issue of the worship of money, the idolatry of money, and to say maybe that’s not what human life should be about,” Sanders told Salt + Light network. “That is a very, very radical critique of the hyper-capitalist system, world system, that we’re living in today.” Sanders was asked if he considers Francis to be a socialist and answered, “Yes.” Sanders explained: “So few should not have so much, and I think that’s what the pope is talking about.” yahoo
Kasich steps in it in Virginia
"Ohio Gov. John Kasich faced some real-time criticism on the campaign trail in Virginia on Monday, when he praised the support he once received from women “who left their kitchens” to support him the first time he ran for public office.
“How did I get elected?” the Republican hopeful asked a crowd at George Mason University in Fairfax. “We just got an army of people, who — and many women — who left their kitchens to go out and go door-to-door and to put yard signs up for me.”
Kasich was elected to the Ohio state senate in 1978.
“All the way back, when, you know, things were different,” he said. “Now, you call homes and everybody’s out working. But at that time, early days, it was an army of the women that really helped me get elected.”
Later, in a Q&A with the audience, a woman who identified herself as a nursing student at the school prefaced a question by chastising the Ohio governor for his remarks.
“Your comment earlier about the women coming out of the kitchen to support you — I’ll come support you, but I won’t be coming out of the kitchen,” she said, to applause.
“I gotcha, I gotcha,” Kasich replied." yahoo
Sanders leads by double digits in West Virginia
"West Virginia, a lightly-polled state that gave Hillary Clinton one of her biggest victories in the 2008 Democratic primary, is the latest to show evidence of white, working-class voters moving toward Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). In a new West Virginia poll of 208 likely voters conducted for MetroNews, Sanders leads with 57 percent support; Clinton trails with 29 percent." msnRubio Rallying Vegas
"Presidential candidate Marco Rubio also appeared in Las Vegas on Thursday.
He held a rally in Sun City Summerlin and talked about how a lot of people are starting to believe that the "American Dream" is out of their reach.
Rubio had another busy day in Las Vegas on Friday. He attended a Christian Businessmen's networking event and then hosted a happy hour at the Havana Grill.
The Florida senator ended the night by attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Rick Harrison's new Pawn Plaza." 13ActionNews

Cruz fires top staffer for promoting false story about Rubio and the Bible
"Ted Cruz on Monday asked for the resignation of top aide Rick Tyler, who he accused of a “grave
error of judgment” for promoting a false story that questioned Marco Rubio’s faith.
The story and accompanying transcript from The Daily Pennsylvanian, a student newspaper, said Rubio had walked by a Cruz staffer on Saturday who was reading a Bible, and told him it didn’t “have many answers in it.”
Tyler, Cruz’s communications director, posted the story on Facebook on Sunday, but later deleted it and apologized after a Cruz staffer said Rubio didn’t make any such comment. But Cruz decided greater action was needed.
"Our campaign should not have sent it. That’s why I’ve asked for Rick Tyler’s resignation,” Cruz told reporters in Las Vegas, where he was campaigning ahead of Tuesday’s Nevada caucuses.
He said he spent the morning investigating what happened before coming to his conclusion. “I have made clear in this campaign that we will conduct this campaign with the very highest standards of integrity,” he added.
Cruz’s swift action comes as the Texas senator is facing increased fire from his rivals, who have accused him of running a dirty campaign with no accountability." Politico

Glenn Beck calls for a fast for Cruz
“I would like to ask you to join me and my family Monday in a fast for Ted Cruz, our country and the Nevada caucus,” Beck wrote on his Facebook page after the South Carolina election results showed a decisive double-digit victory for Trump, whose candidacy Beck has been staunchly opposed to." BreitbartBritney Spears - Hillary Flap
"Britney Spears' manager Larry Rudolph insists the pop star was "by no means endorsing" Hillary Clinton when Spears posted photos of herself posing with the Democratic presidential candidate last week.
Rudolph said he initiated the meeting, which took place Thursday in Clinton's suite at Caesars Palace.
"Hillary was in town," Rudolph said. "I got connected with one of her top aides, whom I spoke to. Hillary said she really wanted to meet Britney, and Britney really wanted to meet her."
Several photos of the meeting were posted on Spears' Instagram account, but #ImWithHer, Clinton's social media hashtag, was quickly deleted.
That led to speculation on the Internet that Spears was withdrawing her endorsement.
"It wasn't intended to be disrespectful," said Rudolph, who suggested the hashtag was posted on Spears' Instagram by someone else." RJ

Cruz - Carson Secret Meeting in Closet
"Ted Cruz and Ben Carson, .... haven’t been getting along very well lately. Carson has, of late, been accusing Cruz of “dirty tricks” on the campaign trail, including, but not limited to, telling supporters that Carson had dropped out of the race when he hadn’t. Cruz, for his part, has blamed the “misunderstanding” on CNN, who reported that Carson had returned to Florida during the Iowa caucus to pick up some fresh clothes, an act that Cruz claims led him to believe Carson was, in fact, returning to the Sunshine State to announce his removal from the race rather than to briefly weep into his pile of clean laundry. Carson replied by suggesting that Cruz fire his campaign staffers. Cruz has not done this.
Likely recognizing that this ongoing and patently insane argument would likely alienate voters on
both sides, Cruz and Carson did what grown men do when faced with conflict: they held a secret meeting inside of a closet.
The Daily Beast reports that on Thursday night in South Carolina, ahead of the Conservative Review convention, Cruz and Carson “huddled” inside a storage closet so that they might work out their issues. The arch nemeses selected the storage closet because it was “neutral ground,” as are all storage closets, where conventional laws do not apply. The meeting lasted for nearly 25 minutes, with a Secret Service detail standing outside, at one point informing a Republican operative, “Yeah, they’re in that closet.”
The meeting did “not go well,” Carson communication strategist Jason Osborne told The Daily Beast.
Not only did the closet convention end with Carson concluding that the two would have to “agree to disagree”—the familiar death knell of once-happy couples across America—but it bumped into Carson’s speaking time at the convention, meaning that somehow, Cruz managed to completely screw Carson over yet again, this time under the guise of reconciliation. Moreover, Carson agreed to meet with Cruz only for five minutes, and only if their tiny tête–à –tête were to remain off the record. Which it clearly hasn’t.
And why, pray tell, is this Meeting of the Midnight Society now public knowledge? Because Ted Cruz, Carson’s campaign alleges, immediately told the media about the “secret” meeting in an ill-conceived attempt to look like a good guy. “We weren’t going to comment to the press on it, but it seems pretty clear that the other party involved had a different agenda,” Osborne said. “How else could we perceive that to be?”
Later that evening, after Carson spoke at the convention, he ran into Cruz again in the hallway and, in a bizarre twist, “Cruz didn’t even look at Carson,” according to the latter’s campaign. “There was a political play there and it didn’t work for them,” a Republican operative “close to the campaign” told The Daily Beast. “The meeting didn’t go as well as Cruz wanted it to go. Carson had a smile on his face and was looking right at him.”VanityFair

Opinion Savvy POLL: Catching late trend or outlier? We will find out...
From Opinion Savvy.....
"We conducted our final poll for the South Carolina Republican presidential primary on February 18th and 19th, and the results show a sizable surge for the Rubio campaign, placing him within 3 points of Donald Trump.
Rubio has increased his support in several key demographics, including the 45-64 and 65+ age cohorts. Rubio is also ahead of Trump in the Lowcountry, a less conservative area of the state with a lower percentage of Republican voters. In our most recent polls, Cruz has hovered around 19%, which he maintains once again.
Trump has managed to improve his ranking within the youngest demographic, and he maintains the highest commitment from voters: 97% of Trump supporters indicated that they do not foresee changing their vote.
For all intents and purposes, the results indicate a very likely Trump win… just don’t be surprised if Rubio fares better than expected.

Kasich's "Barney" routine praised by Liberal Democrats ?(who will never vote for him)
"At one campaign event this week, Kasich demonstrated this kind of empathy with a young supporter who bravely talked about his recent losses, his problems. Kasich walked toward him, put his arms around him and offered comfort. This is certainly among the small handful of moving moments we've seen so far on the campaign trail.

Cruz photoshops Rubio
"Among the red flags that the image is fake… who shakes with their left hand? Certainly not the
right-handed Rubio.
The Rubio campaign was predictably less than amused. “This is how phony and deceitful the Cruz campaign has become,” Rubio advisor Todd Harris told a gaggle of reporters in South Carolina, while holding up the image in question.
The pushback comes after Cruz faced criticism for what his opponents termed “dirty tricks” in Iowa. In particular, Cruz was criticized for pointing out an official-looking flyer telling voters they faced a “voter violation” unless they voted for him, and for telling supporters to spread a rumor that Ben Carson was dropping out of the race." "Donald Trump called on Friday for a boycott of Apple products until the tech company agreed to
help the U.S. government unlock the cellphone of one of the killers in last year's San Bernardino, California, shooting.
"Boycott Apple until such time as they give that information,” Trump said at a campaign event in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. "It just occurred to me." Reuters
